40-year-old man shot in both ankles by four masked men in paramilitary style shooting

Nobody has been arrested at this stage.

A MAN IS being treated in hospital after being shot in both ankles in a paramilitary type shooting.

It happened in the Culdaff Gardens area of Derry at around 10.35 last night.

It’s believed that four masked men were involved in the shooting.

The 40-year-old man was taken to hospital, but his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Police are appealing for information following the incident. Chief Inspector Gordon McCalmont said: “I would ask anyone with any information about this shooting to contact detectives at Strand Road Police Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 1403 of 29/08/16.

“Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
