McDonald: 'Flannery shouldn’t imagine that he can put his head in the sand'

McDonald said that the PAC have written to Flannery twice to attend a meeting and he should accept the invitation.

PRESSURE IS MOUNTING on Fine Gael strategist Frank Flannery  to appear before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to answer questions about money he was paid as a director of the Rehab charity.

The PAC member Sinn Féin’s Deputy Leader Mary Lou McDonald has said Frank Flannery must accept an invitation from the (PAC) for him to come before them.

The Irish Times reported today that Rehab had paid Flannery to lobby the government.

Speaking about the revelations today, McDonald said:

Just as rehab have been arrogant and dismissive of public concerns so too has Frank Flannery.

She said that the PAC had written to Flannery twice to invite him to appear before the committee.

“He must come in and address all of the issues in relation to executives pay and pension pots, in relation to Rehab’s dealings with his company Complete Eco Systems and in relation to his consultancy which Rehab paid him for,” she said.

McDonald said:

Frank Flannery shouldn’t imagine that he can put his head in the sand and hope these issues will go away. That won’t happen.

“He must accept the invite extended to him by the Public Accounts Committee,” she concluded.
