Two men charged after guns found in Meath

A third man remains in custody.

TWO MEN ARE due before Trim District Court tonight charged with weapons offences.

The two men, both in their 30s, were arrested on Thursday as part of an operation targeting organised criminal groups.

Two assault rifles and several hundred rounds of ammunition were seized when gardaí stopped two vehicles in the Ratoath area.

In a follow up phase of the operation, gardaí said two semi-automatic pistols, silencers and further quantities of ammunition were also found in Ratoath.

A third man remains in custody.
