THERE’S NO DOUBT that Glebewood House looks like it was plucked from a classic English garden and placed in Co Meath – particularly from the outside.

A Lutyens-designed home in the heart of Ratoath, Glebewood is one of three homes that are all similar in style. The British architect Edwin Lutyens (1869 – 1944) is known for his Arts and Crafts country houses and his influence can be seen in many houses across Ireland to this day. Glebewood is a prime example seeing as it was built in 1980 yet embraces many of the classic features of Lutyen’s time.

Inside, however, the story is quite different. The whole house was extensively renovated in 2005 and enjoys a C1 BER and lots of modern touches throughout.

By the number of social spaces alone, it’s clear to see that this 475 m² home has served as a great place to entertain in recent years.

One of the living rooms has a double height vaulted ceiling with wooden exposed beams. The space is flooded with natural light and has direct access to the garden.

Not only are there two large living rooms on the ground floor alongside the spacious dining room and kitchen, the upper level is home to a games/cinema room as well as a sauna.

There are five double bedrooms spread throughout the house, with two bedrooms tucked behind the dining room on the ground floor which both have their own bathrooms.

Three more bedrooms live on the first floor. All en suite, the main bedroom has a roomy walk-in wardrobe. There is also a handy home office on the floor.

From the main lounge, sliding doors lead to the patio area that’s homes to the outdoor swimming pool, seven seater hot tub and surrounding garden. For entertaining outdoors a covered area lets you bring the inside out.

The home is a stone’s throw from Ratoath main street yet it sits behind wrought iron electric gates which really add to the sense of living deep in the countryside. The driveway has parking for up to ten cars further proving that this is a house for anyone who loves hosting.

The town of Ratoath has plenty of amenities for everyday family life and while there is a home office and plenty of space for anyone who works from home, the location is also great for those who need to commute to Dublin.

The price is on application for Glebewood House, Glebe Lane, Ratoath, Co Meath, which is on sale through Lydon Farrell Property.
