Group of men armed with pickaxe smash windows and threaten residents

The incident is being treated as a racially motivated hate crime.

POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING after a group of men attacked a number of houses yesterday evening.

They threatened the residents and smashed the windows at two of the houses with bricks. One of the men was reported to have been carrying a pickaxe.

It happened at Mountcollyer Avenue in North Belfast at around 8pm. Inspector Roy Watton said,

We are treating this incident as a racially motivated hate crime.

“I would appeal to anyone with any information which could assist us to identify those responsible to contact police at Tennent Street on 101. Information can also be passed anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
