'I'm sorry, I was drunk': Two men face charges after breaking into Aqua Dome for late night swim

A solicitor for one of the men said they also went for a sleep in a hotel room afterwards.

TWO MEN IN Tralee are facing burglary charges after breaking into the Aqua Dome for a late night swim and then going for a sleep in a hotel bedroom, a court heard.

Radio Kerry reports Eric O’Shea of 17 Loharcannon in Tralee, and his co-accused Conor Walsh of Ballinorrig South are accused of four counts of burglary.

Pat Mann, solicitor for Walsh, told the court this was not a case of “blatant burglary”. The men, he said, went for a “late night swim” in the Aqua Dome and then for a sleep in a room at the Brandon Hotel.

The 21-year-old man is accused of entering the Aqua Dome as a trespasser with the intent of committing theft on 22, 23 and 24 June and of the same offence at the hotel on 24 June. 20 year old O’Shea faces similar charges.

In reply to the charges, O’Shea told the court: I’m sorry, I was drunk”.

Both men were remanded on continuing bail and placed on curfew between 10pm and 9am. They will appear before Tralee District Court again on 7 October.
