Ballsy campaign uses men's underwear to fight violence against women

An artist wants men to write brief (get it?) messages on their pants and share them online.

AN ARTIST AND activist from Italy has launched a social awareness campaign, asking men around the world what kind of men they really are.

Alexsandro Palombo wants to know if they are man enough to stand up and speak out against violence against women. He wants them to do it in a unique way, however, by writing a message on their underwear and sharing it online.

He first used this method of spreading messages about domestic abuse and rape on International Women’s Day this year. He put a call out for women to use the hashtag #BriefMessage.

Now, men, it appears it’s your turn. Palombo is asking men to be the protagonist of this particular artistic performance by writing their feelings on their jocks; their messages against violence.

“Gender violence is a serious problem that can only be overcome through cultural and social education,” he said.

“Men must rebel against machismo and fight strongly gender violence. We must do it constantly and relentlessly. We need stronger law to fight violence against women.”
