€140,000 of methylethcathinone seized in Donegal raid

Revenue officers and the Garda drugs unit sized about 4 kilograms of the drug in Letterkenny.

ILLEGAL DRUGS WITH an estimated street value of about €140,000 has been seized by Gardaí and Revenue officers in Donegal.

The methylethcathinone – a drug similar in chemical make-up to mephedrone – was seized after being sent in a package, originating in China, being dispatched to an address in Letterkenny.

A 28-year-old was arrested and is being detained at Letterkenny Garda Station in connection with the seizure.

Revenue officers have meanwhile revealed that a 46-year-old Bolivians man was arrested last week at Cork Airport, after being found to have ingested 84 pellets of cocaine with an approximate overall weight of 1 kilogram.

He appeared at Cork District Court on Monday morning in connection with the incident. Revenue estimates that the drugs had an estimated value of €70,000.
