Delays to traffic and rail services after car smashed through Merrion Gates

Merrion Gates will close to all traffic at 2pm today for repair works so drivers should use alternative routes.

DELAYS TO TRAFFIC, Dart and Commuter services can be expected this afternoon at Merrion Gates in south Dublin following a collision in the early hours of this morning.

The incident happened at around 5.20am when a single car smashed into the gates.

A garda spokesperson told TheJournal.ie that no one was injured in the accident but “significant damage” was caused to the gates.

Irish Rail are reporting 20 minute delays to all Dart and Commuter services, while there have been long delays for traffic in both directions.

Merrion Gates will close to all traffic at 2pm today for repairs to be carried out and drivers have been asked by gardaí to use “alternative routes”.
