Status yellow rainfall warning issued for four counties

Showers are expected to spread this afternoon, turning heavy with a risk of thunder.

A RAINFALL WARNING has been issued for Galway, Mayo, Clare and Kerry.

The status yellow warning will come into place at 9pm tonight and will be valid until 9pm tomorrow.

Met Éireann says thundery rain will lead to possible accumulations of up to 50 mm in these areas.

While this morning has started dry in many areas, showers are expected to spread eastwards this afternoon, turning heavy with a risk of thunder.

There will also be a risk of thunder and localised flooding tonight as heavy rain spreads over the country.

Tomorrow is expected to stay wet with a continuing risk of thunder in places.
