Gale force winds and thundery showers ahead before sunny weekend

Met Eireann says it will be “very windy for the time of year” with strong and gusty winds increasing to gale force at times.

THIS WEEKEND LOOKS set to be dry, sunny and warm – but not before plenty of rain and strong winds during the week.

Showers are set to become widespread this morning, turning heavy and thundery at times, especially in the west and north.

Met Eireann says it will be “very windy for the time of year” with strong and gusty winds increasing to gale force at times.

Tomorrow will be a mixture of sunshine and showers – some of which may be heavy.

Friday will be a mainly dry day but a few showers are still likely in the north and west. Winds will be mostly light, bringing an increase in temperatures and humidities as the weekend gets underway.
