London police officer charged with raping 16-year-old girl

He was remanded in custody to attend Barkingside Magistrates’ court today.

A METROPOLITAN POLICE constable has been charged with repeatedly raping a 20-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl.

PC Adam Provan, aged 38, attached to the East Area Command Unit based on Barking and Dagenham Borough, was charged yesterday following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service.

He was remanded in custody to attend Barkingside Magistrates’ court today.

He has been charged with one count of indecent assault relating to an incident in 2002 with a female victim aged 15 at the time, two counts of rape in 2010 with a female victim aged 16 at the time, and four counts of rape in 2016 with a female victim aged 20 at the time.

PC Provan is has been suspended from duty.
