What was the story with Michael Noonan's cough during his Budget speech?

Lots of people on Twitter were worried about the Finance Minister…

MICHAEL NOONAN’S BUDGET speech this afternoon was interrupted several times by a nasty sounding cough.

During the 40-minute or so speech he had to stop several times to cover his mouth and let out a splutter.

Lots of people were talking about it on Twitter:

Some people were cracking jokes about it…

Some were worried about what might happen..

Really worried…

Some were looking out for the Finance Minister…

While some noticed the irony…

So what’s the story? Is Noonan alright? Yes is the answer.

We bumped into him sucking on a cough drop not long before we did a quick interview with him at Leinster House this evening and asked him if he was alright.
