Garda probe launched after man's 'unexplained' death at house in Midleton

A woman has been rushed to Cork University Hospital following the incident.

GARDAÍ HAVE LAUNCHED an investigation after a man in his 60s died at a house in Midelton, Co Cork, while a woman has been rushed to hospital for treatment arising from the same incident.

It is understood that gardaí are investigating all circumstances and are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

“The man’s death is currently unexplained and the post-mortem results will assist gardaí in determining the course of their investigations,” a garda spokesperson said.

Shortly after 4pm, Gardaí responded to a report of an incident at a residential property in Broomfield West, Midleton where the man – understood to be in his 60s – was found unresponsive.

He was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later.

The woman at the house was treated at the scene before being brought by ambulance to Cork University Hospital.

The scene is preserved for forensic examination and the local Coroner has been notified.
