Man in his 70s seriously injured after being struck by car

The crash happened around 10pm last night in Scotstown.

GARDAÍ IN MONAGHAN are appealing for witnesses following a serious traffic collision that left a man in hospital.

The crash happened around 10pm last night in Scotstown.

Shortly before 10pm, a 74-year-old pedestrian sustained serious injuries when he was struck by a car on a local road at Bough, near Scotstown. The injured man was treated by emergency services personnel at the scene and removed by Ambulance to Cavan General Hospital. His condition is understood to critical. The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, was uninjured.

Garda Forensic Collision investigators are examining the scene of the collision and local traffic diversions are in place.
