1. Gaza

Palestine intends to introduce a UN General Assembly resolution in September enshrining the recent sweeping ruling by the UN’s top court that declared Israel’s presence in the occupied territories unlawful.

More than 60,000 Leaving Certificate students are set to get their results this morning.

3. Nell McCafferty

The funeral of journalist, author and feminist activist Nell McCafferty will take place in Derry today.

4. Usher’s Island

The Arts Council has intervened in the planning row concerning the conversion of a property into 10 apartments at Usher’s Island in Dublin 8, where James Joyce’s The Dead was set.

5. Andrew Tate

A Romanian placed misogynist influencer Andrew Tate – who is already awaiting trial over human trafficking and rape charges – under house arrest, a day after raiding his home in an investigation into crimes of sexual relations with a minor and trafficking minors, as well as money laundering and forming an organised criminal group. 

6. Icelandic volcano

A volcano in southwestern Iceland has erupted for the sixth time since December.

7. Storm Lilian

Much of Ireland was under either a wind or rain warning last night as the weather turns rough with the arrival of Storm Lilian.

A Nato airbase in western Germany has raised its security level over a “potential threat”. 

9. Diamonds

The world’s second-largest diamond has been discovered in Botswana.
