1. Middle-East ceasefire plan
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said a truce and hostage release deal to end the Gaza war was still possible, as Hamas has called for the US to put “direct pressure” on Israel to secure a permanent ceasefire.
2. Horse abuses
Horse Racing Ireland has said it’s “deeply shocked and appalled” by an RTÉ Investigates programme on welfare abuses at Ireland’s only active equine abattoir.
3. Gender Equality
Womens’ groups call for gender quotas in local elections after ‘disappointing’ results.
Local authorities in Ireland now just have two more women sitting on them than before.
4. Local and European Elections
All of the Local Authorities have elected their councillors, while counting continues in the European Elections in the Midlands-North-West and South constituencies. You can see which councillors have been elected here and follow the European race here.
5. CAMHS report
Some young people are not seen by Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) until they are self-harming or have attempted suicide, according to a new report.
6. Cystic Fibrosis
Governments across Europe – including Ireland – are being charged up to 20 times what it costs to produce a ‘miracle’ drug for cystic fibrosis.
7. Drugs seizure
A woman in her 40s was arrested following a drugs bust at a house in Tallaght.
8. Artists4Ceasefire
Bridgerton star actress Nicola Coughlan has said she wears an Artists4Ceasefire pin as a “call to Joe Biden”.
The Galway actress spoke of Bill Clinton’s role in the signing of the Good Friday Agreement and said the current US president “could really effectively use his position” to do something similar.
9. Athletics
Ireland last night secured more track success at the European Championships in Rome, with the women’s 4x400m relay team winning silver at the Stadio Olimpico.
