Seventh person arrested over mortgage loan fraud

The arrest took place in Kildare yesterday as gardaí continue to investigate alleged fraudulent mortgage loans secured on properties in the Munster area.

A SEVENTH PERSON has been arrested in connection with allegations of fraudulent mortgage loans being secured on a number of properties in the Munster area.

The man was arrested yesterday in Naas, Co Kildare and detained under section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act. He is being held at the Bridewell Garda Station in Cork City.

Last month, four men and two women – ranging in ages from their twenties to their forties – were arrested as part of the same investigation and were held for questioning at a number of Garda Stations in Co. Cork.

All were later released and files are being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

A large amount of documentation along with computers, storage devices and phones were seized during the operation initial operation and cannabis plants with an estimated street value of €5,000 were also recovered at one of the locations.
