Motorcyclist seriously injured in collision with bus in Birr

The collision happened on the R439 at around 2.30pm this afternoon.

A MOTORCYCLIST HAS been hospitalised with serious injuries after he collided with a bus in Birr, Co Offaly earlier today.

The man, aged in his 30s, was travelling on the R439 at Ballaghanoher in Birr at around 2.30pm today when his bike collided with a bus.

He was taken by ambulance to the Midland Regional Hospital where his injuries are descried as serious.

The road has been closed for a technical examination to be carried out by forensic collision investigators who have been requested to attend the scene.

Diversions are in place.

An appeal has been issued for witnesses to the incident to contact Gardaí at Birr Garda station on 057-9169710 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
