Mourners at funeral told: 'Do not vote for Hillary Clinton'

Larry Darrell Upright RIP obviously wasn’t a fan.

“ALSO, THE FAMILY respectfully asks that you do not vote for Hillary Clinton in 2016. R.I.P. Grandaddy.”

Mourners at the funeral of a North Carolina grandfather were given that unusual request according to an obituary posted by a local funeral home.

Larry Darrell Upright, 81, died last week and is survived by his wife, two children and three grandchildren.

We are told that Upright had been a Master at a Masonic Lodge and was a “keen golfer”. We are also told his “greatest joy” was his family.

So far, so standard until the final line of the obituary:

The funeral home allows mourners write a condolence for the family on its website and some mourners have indicated that they will honour the family’s request not to vote for Clinton.

Charl McLeod: “Condolences to the Upright family, especially the grandchildren! Your request not to vote for Hillary Clinton will certainly be honored by our family! Blessings to each of you!”M Teague: “So sorry for your family’s loss. Thoughts and prayers go out to each of you. P.S. Your wish is granted…..will Not vote for Hillary Clinton”

Sarah Holmes: “Prayers for you and your family at this most difficult time. I too promise to uphold the request and will not vote for Mrs. Clinton. Ever.”

Michael: “My condolences for you and your family. I am honoring your personal, last wish by signing up to be on Hillary Clinton’s staff. I have been, and always shall be, your friend.”

But the family’s attempts may have backfired on some voters with mourners saying their attempts have convinced them that the former First Lady will be getting their vote:

Mike Spenser: “This obituary has helped me make up my mind as to who to vote for POTUS in 2016. Hilary Rodham Clinton for president. Thanks for helping me to choose who to vote for Larry.”Proud voter: “May Larry Rest in Peace at least until November 2016 when I’m sure he’ll be rolling in his grave because Hillary Clinton has been elected President of the United States!!!!!”

Tim: “This is such a great obituary. It has motivated me to donate 500 to Hillary Clinton’s campaign in Mr Uprights name.”
