Murder investigation launched after man (43) is shot dead in Belfast

Sinn Féin and the SDLP have condemned the killing.

POLICE IN NORTHERN Ireland have launched a murder investigation after a man was shot dead in west Belfast yesterday evening.

A 43-year-old man was shot in the Glenwood Court area. He was taken to hospital where he later died.

Sinn Féin MLA Jennifer McCann told BBC News it “appeared someone went into a house here in Glenwood and shot someone – shot a man”.

“The family have been coming up here, there’s been quite distraught scenes with the family trying to get in to see him.

“This brutal killing has achieved nothing other than plunging another family into grief and despair.”

The SDLP has also condemned the shooting.

Anyone with any information has been asked to contact the PSNI.
