Two dead after van and motorbike collide on N80 in Laois

A van and motorbike collided at around 6am this morning.

THE N80 ROAD near Arles is closed this morning after a collision that killed two people.

The crash took place at around 6am on the Portlaoise to Carlow Road at Arles Village when a motorbike and van collided.

Two men, the driver and passenger of the motorcycle, believed to be in their late 20s or 30s, were fatally injured in the collision. The van driver was taken to The Midland regional Hospital Portlaoise but is not thought to be seriously injured.

Gardaí say that the road is closed after the collision and diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the incident or anyone who was on the N80 between 5.30am and 6am to contact them at Portlaoise Garda Station on 057 8674100.
