Naval divers join river search for missing person

The River Lee is being combed for any sign of a person reported missing in Ballincollig, Co Cork.

A SEARCH IS under way for a missing person in Ballincollig, Co Cork, with a team of naval divers combing the River Lee in the area this morning.

The divers, who arrived at the scene around 8am this morning, are focusing their efforts around the Regional Park area of the town.

They were deployed in response to a request from gardaí, who confirmed to TheJournal.ie that a search was taking place in the area. However, they could not confirm the identity of the missing person.

It’s understood that the circumstances are not suspicious, and that search teams are aware of the identity of the person they are looking for.
