British DJ Neil Fox cleared of sexual assault charges

The presenter – known on air as ‘Dr Fox’ – had denied a string of charges dating back to the 1980s.

BRITISH DJ NEIL Fox has been cleared of abusing young fans and colleagues.

The 54-year-old – best known for his TV role as a judge on ‘Pop Idol’ – had denied a string of indecent assaults and sexual assaults, which were alleged to have happened between 1988 and last year.

His lawyer said earlier this year that Fox ”categorically denies each and every allegation that has been made against him”.

The presenter was first arrested in September of last year and was re-arrested in December last. A trial at Westminster Magistrates’ Court followed, with the verdict delivered this afternoon.

He has been off air since his initial questioning.

The Guardian reports that he broke down in tears as the verdicts were delivered.

Brief statement

Speaking outside court this afternoon, the DJ paid tribute to his family and his “incredible wife” Vicky as he made a brief statement to reporters.

“I cannot begin to tell you how much I love you and how much I thank you for simply being there and holding my hand through this long and arduous journey”, Fox said.

It has been tough at times. You have shown me how to look for the good and the bad, the happy and the sad, the gain and the pain – and find out what makes us grateful and not hateful.
