INDEPENDENT TD MICHAEL Fitzmaurice plans to start a new political party

The Roscommon-South Leitrim TD was elected to the Dáil this October and says his time there has made him see that we need to start doing things a bit differently.

The 55-year-old farmer told TheJournal.ie that the party would support ‘forgotten middle Ireland’ and would have no whip system saying it ‘destroys Irish politics’.

The government have to call an election in April 2016, but there’s speculation it could come as early as next year.

So today we’re asking, Would you like to see a new political party?
