TODAY FM HAS released its new weekend line-up.
TV and radio personality Hector Ó hEochagáin and Danny O’Reilly, frontman from The Coronas, are joining the station.
Ó hEochagáin, who is currently filling in for Ian Dempsey in his morning slot, will join the weekend schedule in August with Hector’s Sunday Sitting Room – a three-hour show from 4-7pm.
“I’ll be bringing the craic and keeping listeners company as they journey home on Sunday evenings, all to the backdrop of an eclectic upbeat soundtrack. Just think of it as Hector’s Sunday Sitting Room and the key is in the door,” the former RTÉ 2fm DJ said.
Meanwhile, O’Reilly will host an eight-week series entitled A Different Side on Sunday afternoons from 4pm. Today FM says the show “will explore and celebrate the role of music in the lives of some of Ireland’s best-known figures from the world of sport, cinema, television and radio”.
The majority of the schedule will come into effect from Saturday, 2 July.
Alison Curtis will extend her Saturday Breakfast to a Sunday morning slot, while Nadine O’Regan will bring her award-winning Songs in the Key of Life from sister station TXFM, which is set to close down later this year, to Today FM.
Kelly-Anne Byrne will present The Beat Goes On from 10pm on Sunday nights as well as Saturday nights. Ed Smith will bring Ed’s Songs of Praise to the earlier time of 7pm on Sundays.
Phil Cawley will continue to host his afternoon shows on both Saturday and Sunday, while the Sunday Business Show and Neil Delamere’s Sunday Best will complete the station’s weekend line-up.
Sunday morning presenter Declan Meehan will retire from Today FM after 20 years of a weekend morning show, while Jim O’Neill’s last show will air on Sunday 26 June.
