In Dublin, the crowd battled the elements at the St Stephen’s Green concert as part of the NYE Festival Celebrations.
London
Fireworks lit up the sky over Parliament in central London during the New Year celebrations.
Thousands of people held up the lights on their mobile phones on the Embankment in central London during the celebrations.
New York
Revelers celebrated the New Year as confetti flew over New York’s Times Square as seen from the Marriott Marquis.
A police officer took a photo of revelers playing in the confetti during the celebrations.
Mariah Carey had a botched performance at the New Year’s Eve celebration in Times Square appearing to have technical difficulties.
She even stopped singing her song “Emotions,” paced the stage and told the audience to finish the lyrics for her.
She told the crowd, “I’m trying to be a good sport here.”
Las Vegas
Fireworks exploded over the Las Vegas Strip during the New Year’s Eve celebrations.
Some people danced on the streets to ring in the New Year.
While others played on slot machines.
Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan
Worshippers headed to the altar to offer New Year prayers at the Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine in Kamakura.
Visitors tied “omikuji,” or fortune slip, on New Year’s Day at the Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine.
Worshippers also offered New Year’s prayers for good luck during their first visit of the year to the Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine.
South Korea
Buddhists prayed during a service to wish for peace and reunification on the Korean peninsula at Imjingak in Paju, near the border with North Korea, South Korea.

As a diabetic i can vouch for this – I only started drinking coffee approx 2 years ago and it does keep my T2 diabetes in check. Only since I read the article on sky news during the week is when it clicked with me. Any diabetics out there should try it from themselves.
And by scientists we of course mean the corporate PR department of Starbucks ;)

I think these articles need to be banned. They weren’t so bad until the rise of Internet media/press.
They offer nothing substantial with concrete proof , they quite often 100% contradict each other, and they mess with our beliefs about eating habits, which in a country where obesity is one of the worst in Europe, is a pretty serious topic.

The antioxidants in coffee when addicted to it make medicines for treatment useless and people are dropping like flies from heart attacks and strokes all over the world. For Jaysus sake, is this the best shot you can give for a news story on a Sunday morning?

I agee with this. I had pre diabetes. Two years ago I started drinking coffee for the first time. I drink 2 or 3 cups a day, I love it and the diabetes is gone now
