Man arrested over serious attack and car theft in Newbridge

The man was left with serious injuries.

GARDAÍ IN KILDARE have arrested a man in his 30s following an assault and robbery incident on Main Street, Newbridge in the early hours of this morning.

At around 1.30am the injured man was returning to his car when he was assaulted and had his car stolen. He was later taken to Naas General hospital with serious but non life threatening injuries.

A search operation was carried out by gardaí in Newbridge and a man was arrested a short distance away from where the incident took place.

He is currently detained in Newbridge Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact Newbridge Garda Station on 045-431212, The Garda Confidential Line on 1800-66-111 or any garda station.
