    If Enda has his way we will all be wearing poppies and maybe it will be Sir Enda.

    Did our government buy all those poppies from the British legion to support their fundraising?

    Colonel John McRae First Canadian Army penned the poem.

    In Flanders’ fields the poppies blow
    Between the crosses, row on row,
    That mark our place: and in the sky
    The larks, still bravely singing, fly
    Scarce heard amid the guns below.

    We are the dead. Short days ago
    We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
    Loved and were loved, and now we lie
    In Flanders’ fields.

    Take up our quarrel with the foe;
    To you from failing hands we throw
    The torch; be yours to hold it high,
    If ye break faith with us who die
    We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
    In Flanders’ Fields.

    Anyone who goes to Flanders fields and walks through fields of white crosses comes away with a great sense of sadness. I detest this “cultural bullying” of people who respect war dead by wearing the poppy.

    Belgians don’t wear poppies, they are just a fundraiser for the British legion and God forbid you cross them
