The NHS is planning a roadshow to nab some Irish nurses

There are 100 vacancies to be filled – and they’ll pay for registration and interim accommodation if you’re successful in getting one of the jobs.

THE UNITED KINGDOM’S National Health Service is looking across the Irish Sea to nab some nurses.

The Colchester Hospital University Foundation Trust, which comes under the umbrella of the NHS, is looking to fill 100 vacancies using nurses recruited in Ireland.

These are mainly in the roles of emergency medicine, care of the elderly, and general medical services.

Carole Broadbank, associated director of medical nursing at the Trust, said they are looking to Ireland for new nurses due to the ‘standard of training and experience they have’, noting that she encountered some of the “best examples of nursing” while working in Ireland.

“Irish nurses are highly qualified, educated to very high standards, are motivated, caring and empathetic and are highly sought after around the world,” she said.

A recruitment road show is due to be held in Galway, Cork, and Limerick starting on 10 November.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Association has previously said that many nurses choose this route out of Ireland due to a lack of opportunities here.

Registration costs and interim accommodation for successful nurses are often paid for.

The organisation claims that due to this outflux,  more than 12,000 non-Irish trained nurses have had to been recruited from abroad since 2001.
