Noel Treacy to step down at next election

FIANNA FÁIL TD Noel Treacy is to step down at the next election, he has confirmed this morning. The Galway East deputy said that he had been given medical advice to stand down, though RTÉ reports he had already been nominated by the party’s constituency organisation to contest the next election. His retirement means that three of the four current TDs in the constituency are stepping down; Fine Gael’s Ulick Burke and Paul Connaughton have already decided to step down.
