North Korean plane crashes in China

Pilot may have been trying to defect.

A FIGHTER PLANE which crashed in northern China today may have been piloted by a North Korean defector, according to South Korean and Chinese media.

The plane crashed about 90 miles inside the Chinese border yesterday afternoon.

One eye-witness said the engine was making a “very strange noise” and flying low before it crashed into an orchard in Lagu, a village in the Liaoning province.

China is considered to be North Korea’s closest ally, but has become a route for defectors to pass from North Korea to South Korea.
