A MAN HAS been arrested by gardaí following an armed robbery of a bank in Cork today.
Gardaí say they have arrested a man aged in his 30s following an armed robbery at North Main St, Cork.
At approximately 4.05pm, a lone male entered a bank at North Main Street and threatened staff with a handgun before escaping on foot with an amount of cash.
No shots were fired and there were no reported injuries during the incident.
During a follow-up operation, a man aged in his 30s was arrested a short time later in the Shandon St area. He is currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939, at Bridewell garda station.
Gardaí are now appealing for information on the incident. In particular they are appealing to anyone who was in the North Main St area between 3.45pm and 4.15pm today who can assist with their inquiries to contact Bridewell garda station on 021 4943330, or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.

Not sure if your familiar with Cork but North Main Street is a 2 min walk from Shandon Street! Not much intelligence needed to find the guy!

Not sure if you’re familiar with policing but there are many contributing factors that ultimately come together here to arrive at an arrest.

Supposedly crime is down since the economic crisis started, so the correlation is obvious: more gardas = more crime.
The Bridewell Garda Station is also around the corner from that bank

Both of the banks on North Main Street are just around the corner from the Garda Station. Definitely not the brightest of thieves.

@Ben: I’d say we’d all be very unpleasantly surprised if we ever learned the true figure of loonies walking our streets armed with knives/hand guns.
