Police investigate after group of men use sledgehammer to break into flat

The group ransacked the apartment before leaving the scene.

A GROUP OF men forced their way into and ransacked an apartment last night in Co Antrim.

Police in Northern Ireland are investigating the aggravated burglary, which took place at a flat on Main Street in Broughshane shortly before 12.30am this morning.

The only occupant of the property managed to escape through the back door and raise the alarm, police say. He was unharmed.

After breaking down the door with a sledgehammer, the group ransacked the apartment before leaving the scene.

Anyone with information or who spotted suspicious activity in the area of Main Street in Broughshane last night are asked to contact the PSNI.
