Murder investigation launched after woman shot at nursing home

The incident took place at a care home in the United Kingdom.

POLICE IN THE United Kingdom have launched a murder investigation after a woman was found dead at a nursing home.

The woman, aged in her 80s, is believed to have been shot. A man was arrested at the scene.

Emergency services were called to Delamer House care home in Walton, Essex, shortly after 9am this morning, following reports that a woman had been seriously injured.

Detective Chief Inspector Simon Werrett said:  ”At this stage we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the investigation and our enquiries are ongoing.”

The area has been sealed off while a forensic examination takes place.
