Offaly man dies after road accident in Thailand

A father-of-seven has passed away after being struck by a car on Wednesday.

THE DEPARTMENT OF Foreign Affairs has confirmed that it is offering consular assistance to an Irish family following the death of an Offaly man in Thailand, RTÉ reports.

Aidan Hopkins, from Edenderry, Co Offaly, was hit by a vehicle on Wednesday as he crossed the road. He passed away a few hours later in hospital.

The 45-year old had been living in Thailand for the past 18 months and was due to celebrate his birthday next month, reports The Irish Examiner.

Hopkins was a father of seven.
