The RDS is on a mission...
Dedicated to Irish society for nearly 300 years.
For almost 300 years, the RDS has been a part of Irish society. Today it is a well-known and popular venue, but since 1731 the RDS has fulfilled its mission by working in Irish society across the areas of science, agriculture, enterprise, arts and equestrianism.
Before it became the Oireachtas, Leinster House was home to the RDS for over 100 years and the RDS lecture hall, now the Dáil Chamber, was the venue for many science talks. The RDS was also involved in purchasing radium from Marie Curie and pioneering it’s use in cancer treatment in Ireland.
ESB Science Blast is continuing to build on this legacy. The RDS is not only delivering the programme but is also one of the main funders, with ESB as title sponsors – our big aim is to reach over 50,000 primary school children over five years and show them all the amazing possibilities of STEM.
Partnering For Success
However, the RDS cannot do this large- scale work alone. To help us on this significant journey we have been joined by partners from business, philanthropy and education. They all believe in the future of our children and their potential, together we will have a positive impact on their lives.
Current funders include RDS, ESB as title sponsors, The Naughton Foundation, Irish American Partnership, Limerick City and County Council, Irish Aid, Kainos, Devenish Nutrition, Citi and Northern Trust. We are also supported by Mary Immaculate College, Belfast City Council, CCEA and Goliath Trust.
