Threshold provides a range of advice and supports to families and individuals across Ireland.
Information on rights and entitlements for renters are available both on our website and via our Freephone helpline.
The three key stages in the lifespan of a tenancy that we most often help with are:
-
Seeking private rented accommodation: dealing with a new landlord, signing a lease, queries about Rent Supplement or Housing Assistance Payment, avoiding rent scams, advice for students and dealing with discrimination when renting
-
Dealing with problems during your tenancy: problems paying the rent, rent reviews or rent increases, dealing with maintenance issues, dealing with repairs, security of tenure, and seeking redress when tenants’ rights are being violated
-
Ending a tenancy: getting your deposit back, questions about illegal eviction and notice of termination
Seeking help during the Covid-19 pandemic
Tenancies are being impacted by the current pandemic in a number of different ways. Making rent payments is not the only difficulty being faced by renters.
Do not hesitate to contact Threshold if you need advice, need our help in contacting your landlord to protect your tenancy or need help in engaging with the Department of Employment and Social Protection (DEASP).
For advice and support contact Threshold’s freephone Covid-19 helpline on 1800 77 88 99, from 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday.
