Use your voice with your smart home assistant

Hive works with Amazon’s Alexa (free as part of the Bord Gáis Energy bundle) and Google Assistant, making it even easier to manage your home and energy usage. So if your hands are full just say “Alexa, tell Hive to turn the heating off”.

Getting Started

1. From your Alexa app, tap ‘Skills’ in the menu and search for Hive. You may have noticed that there are two Hive Skills in the Alexa. For the best Alexa experience, make sure you have enabled both. With both skills, you’ll be able to unlock all of the Hive features.

2. Enter your Hive username and password and follow the onscreen instructions.

3. Once you have enabled and linked both skills, you need to get Alexa to discover devices for your smart home skill if Alexa hasn’t already. You can do this by saying ‘Alexa discover devices’. Now the fun part. Ask Alexa to control Hive. Check a full list of things you can control by clicking here.
