Aoife Keaney is People Culture and Talent Manager at CalX, a calibration management company working with companies across many different industries. CalX participated in the Lean for Business programme with the support of LEO Meath.
Using Lean principles, staff at CalX improved workshop organisation and made other cost-saving changes – like cutting paper usage by 80% with the introduction of an online verification portal.
“One of the main principles of Lean is that everything has its own space,” says Aoife of the changes to the CalX workshop setup. “We now have a place for all 100 pieces of test equipment and everything is in its place if it’s not being used by an engineer. This saved 15 minutes per engineer per week, which is ultimately an annual cost saving of €5,692.50.
“Now that I know more about Lean for Business I would definitely recommend any other company to take part. There’s nothing but benefits. It will save you time, it will save you money, it’ll bring value to your business.”
