Volkswagen’s new era of e-mobility.
As demand for electric cars continues to rise, the increase in electric car sales is something that is being driven at a local and international level. More and more drivers in Ireland are availing of Government incentive, some of which currently include:
- Free home charging point installation through the ESB (upon successful application)
- Up to €500 a year annual reduction in tolling costs on selected Irish toll roads
- 0% BIK – Battery electric vehicles used as company cars are fully exempt from Benefit in Kind tax
These local incentives are mirrored by Volkswagen’s commitment to a new era of e-mobility, demonstrated by the launch of the world’s largest e-offensive. The Volkswagen brand alone is investing nine billion euros in electric mobility.
By 2028, Volkswagen will have launched almost 70 all-electric models across the Group. While the Volkswagen ID.3 is the first car to be launched as part of the new ID. family of electric cars, it’s only one step in the brand’s plans. Explore the ID.3.
Charging the way
Volkswagen is aiming for a rapid breakthrough for e-mobility and is redoubling its efforts in the field of charging infrastructure. Throughout Europe, the Group will be installing a total of 36,000 charging points by 2025; 11,000 of these are to be developed by the Volkswagen brand.
They will be installed at Volkswagen plants and at about 3,000 Volkswagen dealerships in all large towns and cities. This is an exciting time for Volkswagen as they embark on a journey that has already begun with the e-Golf and e-Golf Executive Edition.
