Ombudsman investigating after woman hit by Garda van

The young woman was struck by a Garda patrol van in the early hours of this morning near the Cork Opera House.

A YOUNG WOMAN was left in a serious condition in hospital after being struck by a Garda patrol van in Cork city in the early hours of this morning.

The pedestrian, 21, was struck by a van at Lavitt’s Quay near the Cork Opera House at around midnight last night.

She was taken to Cork University Hospital where her condition is described as serious but not life threatening.

In line with procedure, the incident was referred to the Garda Ombudsman early this morning and they are seeking witnesses to the incident to contact them on 1890 600 800.
