One man dead, another injured after vans collide in Mayo

The two vans collided at Bahola, in central Mayo, at about 5pm this evening.

ONE MAN in his 20s has been killed, and another injured, after two vans collided on a rural road in central Co Mayo.

The accident happened at about 5pm on the R321 at Carrowcastle near Bahola.

The driver of one of the vans was seriously injured in the collision, and was taken by ambulance to Mayo General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A second man, also in his 20s, was taken to hospital but his injuries are said to be minor.

The road has been closed pending a full forensic examination, and traffic diversions are in place.
