THE GUARDIAN NEWSPAPER for the first time ever is asking readers to vote for their favourite cinema in the Guardian Film Awards.
The Lighthouse Cinema in Dublin has appealed for people to nominate them – and with those colourful collection of seats, why wouldn’t you?
But we wanted to ask you what your favourite cinema is – both past or present.
Ireland has long had a love affair with the “picture house” and there are some gems in Dublin like the Irish Film Institute and the open-air cinema in Meeting House Square.
This week one of Dublin’s most beloved cinemas has said a sad farewell to its iconic sign too, but we’ d like to hear about cinemas from all over the country.
And there have also been historic ones in the past too, like that of the Ambassador Cinema at the top of O’Connell Street.
As a former usher and shop girl at Bray Cineplex, I could be bias, but we’d love to hear about what makes a great cinema and which ones have made a lasting impression on you.
Most of all we’d love you to send in some of your pictures of some of the quirky cinemas dotted around Ireland.
