SUPPORT FOR THE two main coalition parties, Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael, has risen while voters have continued to sour on the prospect of a Sinn Féin led government, according to a new Sunday Independent/Ireland Thinks poll.

Fine Gael are the most popular party in the country on 25% with Fianna Fáil taking second place on 21% support from the public, the poll showed.

Their junior coalition partners, the Green Party, has remained on 4% while Sinn Féin has dropped by 1% down to 18% support.

As for the other parties in the Dáil, the Social Democrats have gained one point to reach 4%, the Labour Party has remained on 4%, Aontú lost a point and now has 3% support, Solidarity-People Before Profit saw no change to its 2% support and Independents/Other went up from 18% to 19%.

When it comes to issues voters think the government should prioritise in the upcoming Budget, measures to get more houses built came out as the most pressing, with 45% of respondents picking it as their number one.

Investment in infrastructure came in second on 33% while increasing the numbers of gardaí, teachers and nurses came third with 29%.
