Police release images of bullet and seek information after Derry paramilitary-style attack

The 33-year-old was shot in the Lisfannon Park area of Derry.

Updated 6.26 pm

A MAN IS being treated for non-life threatening injuries after being shot in a paramilitary-style attack in Derry.

The 33-year-old was shot in the Lisfannon Park area of the city last night around 9.35pm.

The victim suffered wounds to his legs and abdomen and police have said they believe four men were involved in the “brutal and horrific attack”.

PSNI officers have said their investigations are at this point focussed on the movements of the victim’s car and particularly whether it was approached by anyone

“We would really like to hear from anyone who was on Westland Street from around 9.20pm last night and saw a white Kia Sportage parked in the area,” Superintendent Gordon McCalmont said this afternoon.

Detectives have also released images of the scene of the shooting.

“These images show the aftermath of the attack on this young man including a close-up of one of the bullets that was shot into his body,” McCalmont said.

While his injuries have been described as non-life threatening the impact this will have on this man and his family cannot be underestimated.
