Teenage girl escaped from man who accosted her on way to school

The 15-year-old was listening to music on her headphones when approached.

GARDAÍ ARE INVESTIGATING after a teenage girl reported that a man approached her from behind and put his hand over her mouth while she was walking to school on Wednesday morning.

It happened at around 8:30am at Bernard McGlinchey Park in Letterkenny, Donegal.

The 15-year-old was listening to music on her headphones when approached but said she managed to kick off her attacker and run away.

Gardaí confirmed to TheJournal.ie that they are investigating the reported assault of a minor.

The teenagers father told the Donegal News, “My daughter was brave enough to kick and punch out so her assailant ran off. Maybe the next child will not be so lucky. What is happening to our town?”

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in the Town Park between 8:15am and 8:45 to contact Letterkenny Garda Station on 074 916 7100.
