Body of missing man Paul Butler recovered from River Liffey

Gardaí have formally identified the body as that of missing 44-year-old Paul Butler.

THE BODY OF a man recovered from the river Liffey yesterday evening has been identified as that of missing 44-year-old Paul Butler.

His remains were taken from the river at Victoria Quay in Dublin at about 6pm yesterday. The Waterford native was last seen on Stevens Lane in the city centre on Saturday night.

Gardaí have said they are treating the incident as a personal tragedy.

Yesterday, a number of fire engines from Dublin Fire Brigade were deployed to the scene at Victoria Quay to assist with the recovery of the body.
