A DOCUMENTARY LOOKING at the feud between the two gangs at the centre of the recent violence in Dublin will air this evening.

Eddie Hutch Senior, brother of Gerry ‘The Monk’ Hutch, and David Byrne, an affiliate of the Spanish-based Kinahan gang, were killed in separate incidents earlier this month.

The one-off TV3 special will be fronted by crime journalist Paul Williams and will look at the growth of the Kinahan and Hutch gangs.

During the preview for the programme Williams describes Dublin as “a city in the grip of a brutal gang war”.

Ireland’s gangland is no longer big enough for the Kinahan and Hutch gangs. They’ve begun slaying each other in a brutal and relentless fashion and brought terror to the streets of Dublin.

The programme will examine whether the recent spate of killings indicates the start of a bigger feud set to break out in Dublin.

During the programme he will speak to Detective Chief Superintendent Michael O’Sullivan – head of the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau – about how the gardaí are responding.

‘Paul Williams: Gangsters at War’ will air tonight at 9pm on TV3.
