The queue for Penneys in Madrid is around the corner and absolutely insane

And this is JUST TO GET IN THE DOOR.

LAST MONTH Primark – known to us as Penneys - opened its second largest global store in the centre of Madrid.

It’s enormous, has about a zillion floors, and occupies this entire building.

More than two weeks after opening, this was the queue to get into the shop on Gran Via at the weekend.

Repeat: JUST TO GET INTO THE SHOP.

It’s so long, people had to take panoramic photos to capture it all.

El Mundo reports that there is a queue every single day. Again, just to get into the the shop. Into Penneys.

Customers are reportedly given a ticket, and handed a large Ikea-style bag on passing through the grand doorway. (You can also take a supermarket trolley if a bag won’t hold all your swag.)

The queue experience is “repeated” at the changing rooms and the checkouts, El Mundo reports.

This Twitter user called her experience “infernal”. (Yes, it means the same thing in Spanish.)

The store has become a sort of social media phenomenon in its own right. It’s such a big deal, people take selfies just to say they were there.

Or that they were in the queue.

This means “I come from the Primark on Gran Via”.

Er, we’ll stick with Henry Street thanks. Although…
